To Paint Or Not To Paint?

Elizabeth Boland · Aug 31, 2011 ·

Yesterday I purchased the most fabulous vintage peacock wicker fan back chaise lounge chair I found on Craigslist. Yes I have seen tons of the fan back chairs on C-list but never a chaise. I haven’t decided whether to paint it yet, or if I am going to re do the chair for myself or for a client. To paint or not to paint? There are so many fabulous combinations either way!

I am a wife, Mom, and an Interior Designer. I love my job, and I love the fact that I get to work with one of my best friends. My Mom and I are partners in our Washington DC based design firm, Wilson Boland Design. In January 2010, we opened an Interior Design Studio in downtown Bethesda, which has evolved just as much as our business!

I started Haute Indoor Couture in the spring of 2011 to share portfolio pictures, inspiring ideas, and fellow designers with our clients and friends. I live for Interior Design and I love sharing my passion and enthusiasm with my readers. Most of the content you will find here is interior design, architecture, fashion, or canine related.

I found you via Bryn Alexandra and am loving you site. I would totally paint the chair — go white and then you can swap out the cushion to new colors once you get tired of the old.

Hi! I love your blog and found you through Kirsten's blog for your feature friday. I would opt not to paint this one – I think I like would keep it and kick up the fabric on the cushion. I'm a new follower – and congrats on your Post feature – that is wonderful.

I kept going back and forth with this and so far I have not painted it. Part of me likes it natural and the other part of me thinks it would be a pia to paint because of all the different layers and the weave of the chair. I am sure I will get around to getting a fabulous seat made but until then it looks exactly the same as original picture. Thanks for the feedback!

Ooohhh, lovely! Usually I would say paint that puppy, but I think it would look fabulous natural with a colorful fabric.
Love the blog! Found you through 6th Street.
