Windows In Showers

Elizabeth Boland · Sep 27, 2012 ·

In addition to the eight bathrooms I am currently working on, Mom and I have been coming up with plans for her new master bathroom. My parents have not been able to use their master bathroom shower  for years due to a leak that requires taking up the entire bathroom floor, so essentially gutting the entire bathroom. Like many home owners they put this project on the back burner until they could afford to do it the right way. Fifteen sketches of the bathroom layout later, Mom and I finally have our plan. Most of the drawings were designed around keeping an existing window, which is currently in their sorry excuse for a master closet, making the overall layout of the room difficult. Now instead of working around the window, we are working with it. Our current plan is to have the window in the shower. We absolutely despise glass blocks and do it yourself sticky film over the glass but a waterproof plantation shutter could be perfect. The bathroom renovation is probably still a few months away, but our design and layout are done!

About Elizabeth Boland

I am a wife, Mom, and an Interior Designer. I love my job, and I love the fact that I get to work with one of my best friends. My Mom and I are partners in our Washington DC based design firm, Wilson Boland Design. In January 2010, we opened an Interior Design Studio in downtown Bethesda, which has evolved just as much as our business!

I started Haute Indoor Couture in the spring of 2011 to share portfolio pictures, inspiring ideas, and fellow designers with our clients and friends. I live for Interior Design and I love sharing my passion and enthusiasm with my readers. Most of the content you will find here is interior design, architecture, fashion, or canine related.

I know right! Too bad our window will be way off center but were going to try to make it work.

I really like the look of old re-purposed windows. Do you know how these are generally installed? Is it just a sliding door or does it not cover the entire shower space? These are all very creative ideas, I'll have to give some of these a try. I love the vintage look. Thanks for sharing! http://www.randkaz.com
